Using Your Aussie Card

Online security

Enjoy added protection while shopping online

MasterCard SecureCode enhances your Aussie MasterCard account with a secret code to protect against unauthorised use when you shop at participating merchants.

How does it work?

Once activated, MasterCard SecureCode, gives your Aussie MasterCard an extra level of protection on the internet with two-way confirmation between Aussie and participating merchants– at no extra cost. It’s like using a PIN number with Eftpos, so you have the same security online as you would in a store.

Safety tips for shopping online

More and more people are finding shopping online a convenient way to shop for everyday items and gifts. There are a number of tips which make shopping online as safe as shopping anywhere else.

Ask the following questions before giving your Aussie MasterCard details;

Who are they?

Look for reputable Internet merchants or stores. Anyone can establish an Internet site, so if you’re unsure, request more information from them about their company, products and services. Also, ask them what their policy is about returning any merchandise that you are unsatisfied with and refunding of your money.

Is it safe?

Make sure that any merchant you deal with has encryption on their site (you will see a padlock at the bottom of your screen). This makes it difficult for another person to intercept information you send over the Internet.

Are you checking your statements?

You should always read your credit card statements carefully and check for any suspicious transactions. If you find any, call us any time on 1300 660 841. If you contact us within 14 days from the date on your statement, and the transaction is found not to be yours, then generally you will not be held liable for the payment. Remember, sometimes the name of the store which appears on the statement maybe different from the name under which the store trades (e.g. Joe Smith trading as Acme Trading).

Are you keeping a record of purchases?

Whenever you make a purchase online print out a copy for your records. This will make it much easier to check your credit card statement and ensure that all the purchases shown are valid.

Online Guarantee
